Last fall, Fiona Apple cancelled her South American tour in order to be with her terminally ill dog, Janet, announcing that decision via a handwritten note posted on her Facebook page. Now, the singer has called off her upcoming appearance at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound festival.

We don’t know the exact reason for Apple’s cancellation, but according to the festival’s press release, it was due to "reasons beyond the control of the organizers of the festival."

A number of other acts have also dropped off of this year’s lineup, including FIDLAR, Foxygen and Crime and the City Solution. However, DJ Koze, Scuba, Django Django, Phosphorescent and the Drones have been added in their place, and festival-goers can also look forward to performances by Blur, Grizzly Bear, the Postal Service, Wu-Tang Clan, My Bloody Valentine, Animal Collective, Phoenix, Band of Horses, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Hot Chip, Deerhunter, Daniel Johnston, Dinosaur Jr., Neko Case and Camera Obscura.

Primavera Sound 2013 is set to run from May 22-26 right near the heart of Barcelona, Spain. Day tickets are still on sale and can be purchased here.
