Florence + the Machine's Florence Welch has one of those big time voices you'd typically associate with pop divas, but up until now she's been content to be a standout in the alternative and indie world.

However, Welch says she's about to break out of her genre a little bit with a dance-oriented side project. The vocalist told the U.K.'s Digital Spy, "We actually have a dance outfit side project called Side Project. We made this weird house track that sounded quite churchy - to be confirmed! As yet, it has never seen the light of day."

The singer says that she's fallen more in love with the style of music recently, and adds that it's been interesting to see outside artists like Calvin Harris rework her music. Harris did a remix of her most recent single, 'Spectrum (Say My Name).'

The singer says, "I'm such a huge fan of his. What I enjoy about Calvin's songs is that he has that blend of euphoric and melancholic which as an artist he has managed to perfect. It's that mix of catchy and sad - that feeling of complete joy but something tugging at your insides. That's what makes a great pop song and I think he's really coined that."

U.S. audiences are catching a breather from the 'Lungs' singer at the moment, but she'll be back in September with the Machine backing her up.
