As the Foo Fighters continue to take over fans' TV sets -- first with their own HBO series documenting the recording process of their new album later this month -- they've announced they will appear on the upcoming season of Austin City Limits, which turns 40 this year.

In anticipation of the Foo's episode, you can watch a video of the band throwing down an intense, rocking cover of Roky Erickson's 'Two Headed Dog (Red Temple Prayer)' below. Before they launch into the cover, frontman Dave Grohl describes Erickson as "one of Austin's greatest heroes."

The performance is part of the 'Austin City Limits Turns 40' special which airs 9PM-11PM tonight (Oct. 3) on PBS. If you miss it, we're guessing you'll get another chance to see it when the Foo Fighters' ACL episode airs in the upcoming season.
