Remember a while back when Dave Grohl said he was putting the Foo Fighters on hold and was going to take a break? And then he made a movie. And then he showed up a couple weeks ago at a surprise show and played a guitar solo while doing shots? And then he announced there was going to be a TV show based on his band? The Jazz Band opened the show with a half-hour set before the Foo Fighters took the stage for a 90-minute concert that featured some of their biggest hits. Members of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Trombone Shorty joined them onstage for the night’s final number, ‘This Is a Call.’

The segment will be part of the Foos’ upcoming HBO series, which chronicles the band making its latest album in a bunch of different cities at a bunch of famous recording studios with a bunch of famous people. They were in New Orleans this past week recording.

The show, due later this year, ties into the group’s eighth album, which will be released at the same time.
