Fred Armisen and J Mascis Cover TLC’s ‘Waterfalls’ in New Video

Dinosaur Jr. frontman J Mascis took the stage with ‘Portlandia’ and ‘SNL’ comedian Fred Armisen at Boston’s Berklee College of Music on Friday. Some lucky attendees caught their rendition of TLC’s ‘Waterfalls’ on film, during which Armisen and Mascis were joined by Sixpence None the Richer singer Leigh Nash and Telekinesis’ Michael Lerner on drums.

Check out the cover in the video above. At about four-and-half minutes in, Armisen asks the women in attendance to sing along, then the men (with less success), before asking the audience to think the lyrics instead of singing them. What follows is a wonderful bit of silence — save some chuckles — while Armisen mimes the TLC hit.

This isn’t the first collaboration between Armisen and Mascis. Mascis has appeared on both ‘Portlandia’ and Armisen’s farewell episode of ‘SNL.’
