The funk supergroup Rocket Juice and the Moon, comprised of Damon Albarn of Blur and Gorillaz, Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Tony Allen, drummer for Fela Kuti, has been in the works since 2008 but is finally ready to officially release some music. The band has revealed the tracklisting for its self-titled debut album and released the song 'Hey Shooter,' which features R&B star Erykah Badu.

Heavy on the bass and featuring Badu's muted vocals, 'Hey Shooter' is as strangely beautiful as you might expect from this diverse group of musicians. The album also includes a few songs the band has performed live during its handful of concert appearances, including 'Poison' and 'DAM(N).' It remains to be seen whether Rocket Juice and the Moon will embark on a U.S. tour.

Albarn told the Irish Times about the genesis of the trio's moniker: "Someone in Lagos did the sleeve design and that’s the name he gave it, which suits me because trying to find a name for another band is always tricky."
