The new Gatorade commercial tells the story of the sports drink’s origin and stars such athletes as Dwayne Wade, Peyton Manning, Serena Williams and Michael Jordan. The song in the ad is, appropriately enough, ‘Lightning Bolt’ by British singer-songwriter Jake Bugg.

The track appears on the 19-year-old's self-titled studio debut, which dropped last spring in the U.K. and Europe and is slated for an April 9 release in the U.S. via Mercury Records. In addition to being featured in the Gatorade commercial (watch below), it was used in the introduction to the men’s 100m final at the London 2012 Olympic Games. ‘Country Song’ – another tune from that same disc – surfaced in a Greene King IPA beer ad.

If you aren’t lucky enough to see Bugg perform at this year's SXSW, you can catch him at a number of upcoming festivals, including Evolution Festival, Peace & Love Festival, Hove Festival, Roskilde, Optimus Alive!, Beale Street Music Festival, T in the Park, Reading and Leeds, Ibiza Rocks, Splendour Festival, Summer Sonic Festival and Osheaga. He’s also gearing up to tour with the Stone Roses this summer – check out his full itinerary here.
