Gene and Dean Ween – Stage Name Origins

It wasn't easy being Ween, as singer Gene Ween (Aaron Freeman) admitted recently when he announced the end of the band he fronted with guitarist Dean Ween (Mickey Melchiondo) for nearly three decades. It shouldn't be a shock that "Ween" was a nonsensical name fabricated by the childhood friends while they were mates in an eighth grade typing class. Freeman recently released his debut solo album under his birth name of Aaron Freeman and plans to focus on his solo career in the future.
