Giraffe Tongue Orchestra, a supergroup comprised of members of Alice in Chains, the Mars Volta and Mastodon, will make its U.S. debut with a free show next Friday (March 17) in Austin, with performances by Primitive Weapons and God Mother. The event is being thrown by our sister sites Loudwire and CLRVYNT at the Sunset Room, which is located at 310 E. 3rd St.

Giraffe Tongue Orchestra is comprised of singer William DuVall (Alice in Chains), guitarist Brent Hinds (Mastodon), Thomas Pridgen (the Mars Volta), Ben Weinman (Dillinger Escape Plan) and Pete Griffin (Dethklok). The band officially formed a year ago and released Broken Lines last fall. To date their only shows have been at the Reading and Leeds Festivals; a U.S. tour was canceled after Hinds broke his leg in a motorcycle accident.

Joining them at the Sunset Room will be Primitive Weapons and Swedish hardcore band God Mother, who will be performing for the first time ever in the U.S. Earlier in the day, another one of our sister sites, Taste of Country, will showcase singer-songwriters Filmore and Walker Hayes.

The next day, Loudwire and CLRVYNT have a full slate of music, beginning at 5PM, with sets by Fister, Ringworm, Thou, Pig Destroyer (who are playing their first show in four years) and Power Trip. Both nights will include special guest DJs.

Those who attend can rest and recharge their devices at the Mike's Hard Watermelon Patio, where there will be food trucks, a full bar and complimentary bottles of Mike's Hard Watermelon. Gibson Guitars will also be on hand, and you can share pictures with the hashtag #GibsonMoments. Additional event sponsors include Korg, Blackstar and Vox.

You can secure priority access for the shows by RSVP'ing at CLRVYNT.com.
