‘Glee’ Covers Radiohead’s Creep [Video]

We don’t know what we’re more shocked about: the fact that teen drama ‘Glee‘ chose to perform Radiohead‘s early-’90s hit ‘Creep’ on last night’s (March 21) ‘Guilty Pleasures’ episode, or that Thom Yorke and co. actually granted producer and creator Ryan Murphy permission to use the song.

A ‘Glee’ cover of the band’s breakthrough ‘Pablo Honey’ hit doesn’t strike us as something that’s right up Yorke’s alley. He has threatened to sue politicos if they dared to use his music, so why would a cheesy TV show get a pass? Perhaps it’s the fact that ‘Glee’ is topical and covers lots of relevant social issues? Or maybe the band got paid a decent chunk of change for the song’s usage? Who knows. All that matters is that it happened.

So, how was it?

Well, it was a passionate duet performed by starlet Lea Michele, who plays show ingenue Rachel Berry, and Dean Geyer, who portrays Brody. The two certainly emote along with the lyrics, and given the nature of the show, they turn up the dial on the theatrics. Some of the song’s original meaning gets lost in translation, but hey, it was a major network nod for a Radiohead classic.
