More Than 300 Musicians + Celebrities Want You to #GoVote

What do Jeff Tweedy and Ron Swanson have in common? Aside from the video Nick Offerman of ‘Parks and Recreation’ directed for the new band from the Wilco frontman, they both want you to #GoVote today.

More than 300 musicians, actors and comedians are teaming up for a massive social media push through the organization all in an effort to convince U.S. residents to vote in the Midterm elections today (Nov. 4). Co-founder Marc Brownstein of Philadelphia-based jam band the Disco Biscuits said in a press release that the mission is to combat young “drop-off voters” who only cast ballots in presidential races. “The incumbent Congress is the least popular in history, so we can’t leave it to the candidates alone to inspire people,” said Brownstein. “We’re trying to get the message across that being dissatisfied is a bad reason not to vote — it’s the exact reason why participation is so important.”

Others who will be spreading the message include Linkin Park, Dave Matthews, ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic, and Trey Anastasio of Phish. The campaign is part of a broader #GoVote effort that includes several organizations and hundreds of works by visual artists featured here.
