Eclectic blues-rock greats Gov’t Mule graced the stage at Best Buy Theater earlier this week (Sept. 17), treating NYC fans to a characteristically powerful performance. Appearing sans opener, the Mule turned in two full sets plus an encore, holding it down for several hours.

Frontman and guitarist Warren Haynes provided some serious riffage throughout the night and served up tunes from the group's latest record ‘Shout!’ The new disc is their tenth studio album, and as a testament to the Mule's wide-ranging sound and appeal, it includes collaborations with artists such as Ben Harper, Elvis Costello and Dave Matthews.

In addition to new tunes like ‘No Reward,’ ‘World Boss,’ ‘Whisper In Your Soul' and ‘Scared to Live,’ Haynes and the gang satiated diehards with such fan favorites as ‘Drums,’ ‘Fool’s Moon’ and ‘Time to Confess,’ which appeared in their second set.

The encore comprised covers, such as their popular rendition of Larry McCray's ‘Soulshine,’ Son House’s ‘Grinnin’ In Your Face’ and Howlin’ Wolf’s ‘How Many More Years.’ By all indications, these guys still have plenty of years left, and to see where you can catch them next, check out their tour itinerary here.
