Activision Will Release New ‘Guitar Hero Live’ Game This Fall
Activision has announced the return of Guitar Hero -- four years after it was discontinued -- with a brand-new edition, Guitar Hero Live, which will arrive in stores this fall. Guitar Hero Live will build upon the original with a new design, game play, controller and music library. Watch the promo trailer above.
The game will follow characters as they play with a band in venues that range from small clubs to arenas and outdoor festivals. No matter the locale, they're all outfitted with crowds that react to each player’s performance accordingly. In other words, if you rule at Guitar Hero, the virtual crowd will express their undying admiration; if not, you’ll be drowned out in boos.
“Guitar Hero Live lets people rock real crowds with real reactions,” Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg said in a press release. “Our goal was literally to give people stage fright.”
The Guitar Hero Live controller does away with the multi-colored buttons of old and instead more closely mimics an actual guitar, with two strings and three frets. Take a look below:
The new game will also come with Guitar Hero TV, which offers users a library of music videos to choose from. The videos then roll in the background as you play along.
The game will be available for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlaySation 3 and 4 and Nintendo Wii U. It will also be released for tablets and mobile.
