Diffuser.fm recently sat down with Nashville-based singer-songwriter Holly Williams to discuss songwriting, festivals vs. intimate club shows and, of course, her late grandfather, the legendary country singer Hank Williams.

Williams’ latest studio album, 2013’s ‘The Highway,’ features guest vocals from the likes of Jackson Browne, Dierks Bentley and Jakob Dylan. The critically lauded album inspired the New York Times to declare, “Williams is often closer to songwriters like John Prine or Bruce Springsteen, than the smiley Nashville mainstream."

After chatting in our New York City offices, Williams treated us to an acoustic performance of ‘Drinkin’,’ a sad yet tuneful ballad from ‘The Highway.’ Catch Williams and her band when they continue their current run of U.S. tour dates on Sept. 28.
