Houndmouth guitarist Matt Myers and bassist Zak Appleby met for the first time when they were just on the cusp of adulthood. Naturally, that's brought them quite close as they've made music together, and you can hear it in the harmonies on their 2015 breakaway hit "Sedona," off their album Little Neon Limelight, a grab bag of classic rock, soul and country. But things weren't always so copacetic between the two. "I hated you at first," Myers told Appleby with a laugh.

In an interview before their set at Mountain Jam, the band told the story behind why they didn't totally get along at first — as well as how they're adjusting musically after the recent departure of keyboardist/vocalist Katie Toupin. Check it out in the video above.
