Iggy Pop turns up as a cross-dressing, Bible-quoting fur trader in indie auteur Jim Jarmusch's 'Dead Man,' a film considered by many to be the ultimate postmodern western. (Jarmusch himself referred to it a "psychedelic western.") Taking on the role of Salvatore "Sally" Jenko, the Stooges frontman appears alongside Billy Bob Thornton and Jared Harris in a campfire scene that quickly turns violent with the arrival of William Blake, played by none other than A-list actor Johnny Depp.

Jarmusch worked with Pop before, casting him in 'Coffee and Cigarettes' with Tom Waits. He's even working on a documentary about the punk legend, which he announced back in 2010 as a "long-term project." Pop has taken on a variety of acting roles over the years, including memorable turns on 'The Adventures of Pete & Pete' and 'Star Trek: DS9,' but his job as a rock icon will always come first.
