Imagine Dragons Rock New York City’s Roseland Ballroom – Exclusive Photos
Las Vegas alt-rockers Imagine Dragons performed at Roseland Ballroom in New York City on Saturday night (Feb. 23), with support from Atlas Genius and Nico Vega.
The band arrived with five sets of percussion, and after a warm welcome from fans, they turned in a loud, energetic set, leading listeners into their melodic and atmospheric world.
The Dragons kicked things off with ’Round & Round,’ ‘Amsterdam’ and ‘Tiptoe,’ all of which appear on their debut album, ‘Night Visions.’ They also treated fans to the singles ‘Hear Me,’ ‘Radioactive’ and ‘It’s Time.’
On the band’s Facebook page, next to "influences," it simply reads “People Smiling.” After Saturday's show, the group must have been quite inspired, given all the smiles at Roseland.
While Australian indie risers Atlas Genius gave a solid performance and generally went over well, it was opener Nico Vega that really took command of the stage. Frontwoman Aja Volkman climbed atop various percussion instruments and belted out songs with powerful and fiery vocals. Volkman can sweetly serenade you one second, nearly lulling you to sleep, and switch to a speedy, soulful rasp the next. On the whole, Nico Vega’s energy started the night off right.
