If there's anything you're wondering about the creation of Interpol's upcoming fifth album, 'El Pintor,' there's a good chance you'll find an answer in a new behind-the-scenes video the band recently shared.

In the 17-minute "making of" documentary, band members Paul Banks, Dan Kessler and Sam Fogarino open up about everything from the initial meeting Banks and Kessler had about the album in August 2012 to moving on after the departure of bassist Carlos Dengler to debuting the new songs live.

"We didn't really have like a plan," said guitarist Kessler. "Obviously, it was a new chapter for us."

'El Pintor' is set to drop Sept. 9 via Matador.
