Last month, Iron and Wine’s Sam Beam released Archive Series Volume No. 1, the first installment of his ongoing archival series. At the same time, the indie-folk singer-songwriter announced that the compilation would receive a companion piece in the form of a short documentary, Dreamers and Makers Are My Favorite People. Check out an excerpt of the 30-minute film above.

The documentary (download it here) captures Beam performing his newly collected rarities at the Jerry Run Theater in Cleveland, West Virginia. The singer chose the venue – which is owned by Dusty and Renee Anderson – for the significance of its isolated location, with the goal of highlighting the fact that despite that location, fans and music lovers traveled there just to see Beam perform.

Iron and Wine’s archival series aims to gather Beam’s previously unreleased home recordings, covers and live cuts from his nearly 15-year career. Beam released the album on his own Black Crick Recording Co. label

Beam will be heading out on a tour in support of the first edition of his archival series, starting with a show in Kansas City on April 23.
