Tidal certainly seems hell-bent on winning over the affections of listeners. The platform’s latest maneuver to appeal to users? Apparently, part-owners Jack White and Jay Z have been personally calling subscribers just to say thanks.

“[Jay Z] called some of his fans and one of them made the funniest comment,” Tidal exec Vania Schlogel told Business Insider. “He said, ‘This is the best customer service call I’ve ever received!’”

Schlogel added that the rapper is “deeply involved” in Tidal’s development, calling it “a life project for him.”

According to Business Insider, “Jack White and several other high-profile musicians” have also personally called listeners to express their gratitude.

Schlogel revealed that musicians whose music appears on Tidal are given accounts that grant them access to listening statistics as well as contact information for their listeners. So, if you’ve been using Tidal, make sure you’re not screening any incoming calls that may or may not be from Jack White.

Tidal appears to be keenly aware of the criticism it’s received since its launch last month. Earlier today (April 17), we reported the platform launched its Tidal Rising feature to highlight up-and-coming artists on the platform. It's seemingly a direct response to criticism that Tidal may be good for its star-studded ownership and acts with similar name recognition, but not for indie artists.
