Public Image Ltd's concert last night at the Club Blondie in Santiago, Chile, was briefly interrupted when John Lydon was hit in the head with a glass bottle, which shattered on impact. The former Sex Pistols frontman simply wrapped a towel around his head and finished the show.

The video above captures the immediate aftermath. "What a f---ing coward," Lydon says. Then, after the towel was in place, he shouted, "We continue!" and the concert resumed. Below is their performance of "Public Image," which Setlist.fm says was the first song of the encore. About halfway through, during an instrumental passage, Lydon removes the towel to wrap it tighter, giving a good indication of how damage.

He referenced the attack on Facebook, posting a picture of his bandaged face with the bloodied towel around his front and a cigarette dangling out of his mouth. "Glass attack last night at Santiago, Club Blondie in Chile," he wrote. "No reflection on the rest of the crowd. Great gig. It lives. Anyone got any more pictures?"

Public Image Ltd had been in South America all week. Tomorrow, they play the Plaza Condesa in Mexico City, Mexico, which is the last concert on their itinerary for now. The band, which had its first record out less than a year after the breakup of the Sex Pistols, had spent much of the past year touring the world in support of the September 2015 release of its 10th record, What the World Needs Now...
