Johnny Marr has announced a North American tour in support of 'The Messenger,' his forthcoming solo debut. The iconic Smiths guitarist kicks off the 18-date trek on April 11 in Las Vegas, and after a few notable stops -- two Coachella appearances and a pair of shows with New Order, whose singer, Bernard Sumner, he once worked with in the side project Electronic -- he'll wrap things up at the Paradise in Boston.

Due out on Feb. 25, 'The Messenger' follows Marr's high-profile stints with the Cribs and Modest Mouse, two of the many young group's he's worked with since the Smiths' breakup in 1987. Marr has also toured and recorded with the likes of The The, the Pretenders, Pet Shop Boys and Crowded House, and in 2003, he released the album 'Boomslang' as leader of Johnny Marr + the Healers.
