Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, ‘Black Mold’ – New Video

Today (Sept. 18) marks the release of ‘Meat and Bone,’ the first new Jon Spencer Blues Explosion album since 2004’s ‘Damage,’ and to celebrate, they’ve issued a video for ‘Black Mold,’ the disc’s opening track and B-side to the first single, ‘Bag of Bones.’

Helmed by Toom Aerts and shot in Belgium, the clip is a backwoods horror tale come to life. It somehow mirrors frontman Jon Spencer’s real-life horror story about packing up his vinyl records in a basement before Hurricane Irene hit New York and discovering that they “were already damp and soggy, and kind of moldy,” as he tells prefix magazine, explaining the song’s inspiration. “The vinyl was mostly ok, but for a guy who loves records, it really hurt.”
