Josh Homme Claims No Responsibility for Making Arctic Monkeys Weird

Josh Homme, frontman for Queens of the Stone Age, doesn’t want people to get the wrong idea about him and fellow guitar-rock band Arctic Monkeys. He recently told BBC 6 Music (via NME) that, while some people may think that he played some role in the Arctic Monkeys’ progression towards less conventional sounds, he had nothing to do with it.

“I think there’s a misconception that I slowed them down or weirded them out when we worked together,” said the man we wish would rejoin Kyuss.  ”They’ve been playing this dangerous game of changing on every record, reaching like a rock climber for their next grip. I just love them as people.”

Homme helped produce the third Arctic Monkeys album, 2009′s ‘Humbug.’ Since then, the Monkeys and QOTSA have been closely linked. Arctic Monkeys singer Alex Turner contributed vocals to a track on the Queens album ‘ … Like Clockwork,’ and QOTSA recently covered the song ‘Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High’ from last year’s ‘AM.’

Both bands are set to headline the Reading festival this August. Check out the original version of ‘Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High’ while you wait.
