Josh Homme Sued for Assaulting Autograph Seeker

Nearly a year after confronting someone looking for an autograph, Josh Homme is being taken to court for it. On Monday, a lawsuit was filed in Wayne County (Mich.) Circuit Court claiming that the Queens of the Stone Age frontman assaulted Jason Leckrone, who attended a concert in Detroit by Homme and Iggy Pop.

According to Courthouse News, the paperwork alleges that, following the show at the Fox Theater, Pop and Homme attended an after-party at the Museum of Contemporary Art. As they arrived, Leckrone attempted to get Pop’s autograph, but was rebuffed by security. Then Homme took pictures with fans, but refused to sign autographs on the grounds that he didn’t want the items winding up on eBay.

After taking pictures, Leckrone claimed Homme “approached [Leckrone and] was right in his face screaming profanities” before going into the party. Five to 10 minutes later, Homme went back outside, “confronted Plaintiff again and threatened him [saying that] he was so mad at Plaintiff that he wanted to punch him in the face. … Homme continued the second verbal assault rant again, screaming at Plaintiff and pointing his finger inches from Plaintiff’s face. [He] then intentionally and physically grabbed Plaintiff around the shoulder area.”

A by-stander captured the incident in question and sent the video to TMZ, who is also named in the suit on the grounds that their description of it as a “nasty name-calling exchange” is “untrue and cast Plaintiff in a false light” because Leckrone did not engage in name-calling. In addition, he claims that, by publishing the video, Leckrone’s “likeness was appropriated for the commercial use and exploitation with zero redeemable benefit.”

Having “suffered the emotional distress, embarrassment, humiliation, and psychological injuries,” Leckrone is seeking $25,000 in damages.
