Kate Earl's modern-classic twang-pop reminds us of a 2012 Loretta Lynn. It's like how Lana Del Rey has borrowed from Sinatra's rock and JFK's mistress, but for the saloon dwellers and the open range.

Earl's not really from the Wild West, but her beginnings are just as humble and wholesome. Before pursuing her dreams as a musician in Los Angeles, she was a day worker at her parents cafe in small-town Alaska.

She's come a long way since then, and she's gearing up to celebrate 'Stronger,' her debut for Downtown Records, a major benchmark for the young vocalist. She told Diffuser.fm, "Maybe I'm a late bloomer, but I think I've reached such a place of honesty with this album. It's me coming out and telling my stories. This is where I came from".
