Some people celebrate the arrival of summer by taking beach vacations or lounging by the sunny poolside. But singer-songwriter Kevin Devine has chosen to honor the season with music -- by covering Pavement's 'Summer Babe.'

In a recent interview, the Brooklyn, N.Y. native reflected on his fond personal attachment to the song: "There's something about the looseness of this song, its slack nostalgia, that I associate with long, lazy summer days outside, with a girl, being charmed and charming." He went on to say that "it's a truly lovely and lived-in memory, no Instagram filter required."

His acoustic rendition of one of his favorite summer songs certainly does justice to its laid-back feel. He even made sure to dress appropriately for the occasion, with a hat and sunglasses.

Devine released his sixth studio album, 'Between the Concrete and Clouds,' in September 2011 via Favorite Gentlemen and has been touring consistently both overseas and stateside in support of the new record. He is currently on the road with mewithoutYou for a U.S. summer tour and will also make an appearance at Lollapalooza in August.
