Kid Rock Releases Two Songs, While Still Toying With Senate Run

Is Kid Rock staging the greatest show on Earth or is he actually considering a run for Senate? Time will tell, but while he's top-of-mind, he's released a pair of new singles.

The profanity-laced songs "Greatest Show on Earth" (which you can listen to above) and "Po-Dunk" (attached below) popped up with videos, even as Kid Rock announced via Instagram that he'd "recently worked out a unique deal with BMG, Broken Bow, CAA and Live Nation to release music ON MY TERMS."

The video for "Po-Dunk" features pregnant mothers smoking and bikini models shooting guns, while the clip for "The Greatest Show on Earth" includes footage from performances throughout Kid Rock's career – along with a closing message about upcoming concert dates: "Greatest Show on Earth Tour. Coming to a city near you. 2018. Are you scared?"

The same "Are you scared?" tag line appears on a newly launched site called Kid Rock for Senate that appears to hint at a turn toward politics in his home state of Michigan. Theories that it might simply be part of a new PR campaign followed, but he insisted that the site was "real" on Wednesday.

"Like politicians write books during their campaigns, I'm planning on putting out music during mine," Kid Rock added via Instagram overnight. "It's not a hoax, it's a strategy and marketing 101! No plans for an album or anything else that has been the usual norm in the music business OR politics."

The new site features a "Buy Now" link, which sends fans to a Warner Bros. merchandise page that offers "Kid Rock for U.S. Senate" items. It's also important to note that Kid Rock – who endorsed Donald Trump and is known to espouse Libertarian views – has not yet filed any official paperwork to launch a campaign.

Still, Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren isn't taking any chances on whether this is merely a publicity stunt. She's already sent out an email blast with the subject line "Senator Kid Rock (R-MI)," according to the Boston Herald. "I know a lot of people are thinking: this is some sort of joke, right?" Warren writes. "Well, maybe this is all a joke — but we all thought Donald Trump was joking when he rode down the escalator at Trump Tower and announced his campaign, too.”
