Kids Without Instruments, ‘Velvet Lights’ – Free Mp3 Download

What happens when a self-professed "band nerd" from East L.A. joins forces with a Catholic schoolgirl who thinks she's a mermaid? In the case of producer FrankJavCee and singer Marion A. Shootingstar, the result was Kids Without Instruments, the most excellent electro-pop duo behind 'Velvet Lights,' today's free MP3.

Frankie and Marion met via Tumblr back in 2011 and initially wrote songs by sending each other snippets of music over Facebook. It wasn't until they became classmates at California State Long Beach that they began collaborating in person, and on 11/11/11, they dropped their self-titled debut. Having signed with Kobalt Music Publishing, which counts Bon Iver and Skrillex among its clients, Kids Without Instruments are prepping the 'Velvet Lights' single for Nov. 5 release.

"'Velvet Lights' is about being in a completely different state of mind," the band tells Diffuser.fm. "Everything is familiar and unfamiliar at the same time, so everything is confusing."
