Kmart 2012 Layaway Giveaway Commercial

Kmart boasts the following giveaway in their new commercial: “We’re paying off layaway for one winner in every store, every week!” The tune featured in the ad – 'Girl' by Das Racist – is ultra catchy and full of pumped-up electronic beats.

The Brooklyn-based alternative hip-hop trio comprises Himanshu "Heems" Suri, Victor "Kool A.D." Vazquez and Ashok "Dapwell" Kondabolu. ‘Girl’ is a track off of their ‘Relax' album, which hit stores in September 2011 via Greedhead Music, an independent label founded by Suri himself.

‘Relax’ was extremely well received following its release last year, landing No. 1 spots on the U.S. Billboard Top Heatseekers Album chart as well as the iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap chart. Additionally, Rolling Stone named ‘Girl’ one of the 50 best singles of 2011.

Along with being featured in the Kmart ad below, the band also appeared on an episode of the second season of ‘A Day In the Life,’ a Hulu-sponsored online series starring Morgan Spurlock.

Das Racist performed at Bonnaroo earlier this year and are currently wrapping up a series of headlining shows on their American Rap Songs Tour 2012.
