Just announced today (Jan. 14), HBO's documentary on the life of Nirvana's Kurt Cobain, 'Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck,' will be released alongside a book of the same name. Both will be available on May 4.

The book will feature exclusive interviews taken from the film as well as a combination of images from Cobain's personal collection -- including animation stills and rare photography. The film's director Brett Morgen will also contribute some content to the book.

Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, is overseeing the project as executive producer. Probably the most exciting news of all is that the film will feature never-before-heard music from the departed Nirvana frontman.

'Montage of Heck' is the name of one of Cobain's personal mixtapes, which included songs from the Beatles, Iron Maiden, the Monkees, Black Sabbath, the Jackson Five and more.
