Lana Del Rey – Stage Name Origins

One of the more infamous stage names recently making the rounds is that of Lana Del Rey, who was the focus of a backlash after it was discovered her birth-given name was in fact the much-less-enchanting Lizzy Grant. The singer released one album under the combined title of 'Lana Del Ray A.K.A. Lizzy Grant' (note that Rey is misspelled as Ray), but that disc was pulled in advance of LDR's proper debut disc, this year's 'Born to Die.' The name is reportedly an amalgam of the actress Lana Turner and the somewhat obscure '80s automobile the Ford Del Rey.
