Give Lana Del Rey credit: It takes guts to perform on a TV singing-competition broadcast when some music critics have gone to great lengths to knock her inconsistent vocals.

Del Rey recently appeared on an episode of 'The Voice U.K.' to sing her new single, 'Blue Jeans' — and the improvement since her maligned 'Saturday Night Live' debut in January is obvious.

Wearing a much-shorter dress than the one from her infamous 'SNL' showing (during which she sang 'Video Games' and 'Blue Jeans'), Del Rey still doesn’t make anyone forget the frenetic energy of Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis. She very much remains a stationary singer, and the occasional stroke of her hair with a microphone-free hand is the closest thing Del Rey has to a signature move (for lack of a better term).

Nevertheless, the 'Voice U.K.' audience approved of her overall performance, responding with genuinely enthusiastic cheering when she finished. Tom Jones — someone who knows a thing or two about singing and working a stage — can be seen smiling and clapping from his judge’s chair.
