Courtney Barnett just released a new 7” via Third Man Records, and now, you can stream the single’s A-side, “Boxing Day Blues (Revisited),” above.

The song ostensibly serves as a continuation of Barnett’s debut full-length, Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit, as the song’s title is a nod to the LP’s closing track, “Boxing Day Blues.” In comparison to the melancholic original, the new tune pleasantly chugs along as Barnett delivers her signature deadpan observations (“I’m feeling fine except for the times I’m not”) -- that is until midway through her placid tone turns to near-snarl.

“Boxing Day Blues (Revisited)” is backed with Barnett’s cover of the erstwhile Nick Cave-fronted Boys Next Door’s “Shivers,” which can be heard right here. Jack White produced both tracks at his Nashville studio. You can buy the single now at Third Man’s website.

Barnett will reissue Sometimes I Sit and Think on Nov. 6 via Mom + Pop. The album will boast six previously unreleased songs and a cover of John Cale’s “(I Keep A) Close Watch.”

Barnett’s tour takes her to L.A. on Oct. 20, when she’ll open for Blur at the Hollywood Bowl. Then, she’ll play a headlining gig in San Francisco on Oct. 21 before opening for Blur one more time at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Oct. 23. See her complete itinerary at this location.
