Canadian indie rockers Metric are apparently back in the studio after ending their recent tour in support of their latest album 'Synthetica,' and while currently in the creative stages, singer/songwriter Emily Haines has shared an unfinished new dark and ethereal track called 'The Fatal Gift' which you can listen to below.

In the post on the band's website, Haines claims the new track “doesn’t really sound at all like anything else we’re doing and stands alone," which we'd say is accurate. She also likens it to a "dark Christmas carol." It's more similar to what you may have heard from her solo work, 'Knives Don't Have Your Back,' which stands as a testament to the singer's new musical direction. She also expressed her true gratitude for being able to write, play and love music for this long.

'Synthetica' is out now via their own labe Metric Music International & Mom + Pop Records and you can also currently download an app made exclusively for the release. More details on the band's newest project to come soon.
