If you ever start thinking that straight-up rock 'n' roll is dead, Little Barrie has a special treat for you. The British trio's new song 'Realise' is a kick-in-the-ass reminder that it's still alive and kicking.

Taken from their upcoming album 'Shadow,' which comes out on May 27, 'Realise' is the sound of guitars ruling over everything else around it. With a riff as rough and raw as this, there's no need for much else to move in. Give it a listen:

Still, frontman Barrie Cadogan, who also does time in Primal Scream, throws out some appropriately trippy words over the psychedelic guitars that dominate the track. It's a very spontaneous-sounding song, which seems to be the point.

"I remember us recording this at [producer] Edwyn Collins' studio," Cadogan tells us. "It was done in one take. We listened back and liked the sound, and just ran with it."

Running with it seems to be Little Barrie's work method these days. 'Shadow' was recorded and mixed in just 17 days.
