"Lydia Loveless might not save the world, but she and her band will renew your faith in rock and roll," filmmaker Gorman Bechard proudly says about his newest documentary, 'Who Is Lydia Loveless?' The singer-songwriter from Columbus, Ohio is the subject of this latest "roc doc" from Bechard, whose previous outings include the Replacements ('Color Me Obsessed'), Archers Of Loaf ('What Did You Expect') and Grant Hart of Husker Du ('Every Everything').

Loveless first tumbled onto the alt country music scene in 2010 with her debut, 'The Only Man.' Since signing to Bloodshot Records in 2012, she has released a pair of critically acclaimed albums, 'Indestructible Machine' and 'Somewhere Else.' Filming is slated for spring and summer 2015, with a premiere planned for 2016.

“I’m excited to work with Gorman,” Loveless notes on her website. “He’s very passionate about music and about the true meaning and spirit of rock and roll.” The project is being funded via a Kickstarter campaign (video above) that runs through March 18.

The documentary will follow Loveless and her band from the recording studio to live performances, and will include extensive interviews, ultimately striving to answer the doc's primary focus, "Who is Lydia Loveless?"

But the director already has the answer to that question. “Lydia is the future of rock and roll,” Bechard explains. “She straps you onto an emotional roller coaster of love, lust, drunken mistakes, a little stalking, a lot of heartbreak, and you’re left breathless, stunned, happy to have taken the ride."
