Oh, Lykke Li. We wish with all our hearts that we didn't love your beautiful songs, because they hurt us so much. But love them we do. And this new track, 'No One Ever Loved,' from the upcoming soundtrack for the film 'The Fault in Our Stars,' is an extra-strength tear jerker.

Li didn't write this new song specifically for this movie, but after reading the book, she realized that she might as well have. In an interview with Rookie, Li described her reaction to it:

"It’s so crazy, because I had just written the song 'No One Ever Loved,' which is about star-crossed lovers and how you will never ever get over that one true love," she said. "It feels like the universe made this happen, and I am so happy about it. It makes perfect sense, it feels like the lyrics are word by word how [the main character] Hazel would feel: You will never get over your first love, and no one will ever understand the universe where the two of you existed, or the way his eyes consist of starry skies and paradises."

From the sound of it, this movie is not for people who hate crying in public. The movie's synopsis fills you in on how snotty and red-eyed you're likely to get in the theater:

"Hazel and Gus are two extraordinary teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them -- and us – on an unforgettable journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous, given that they met and fell in love at a cancer support group."

So don't say we didn't warn you. If you don't want all of your friends to know what a softy you really are, maybe you should wait for the DVD. In the meantime, listen to this new song on repeat while you finish off that pint of Ben and Jerry's you swore you'd only eat half of.
