There's plenty of Warren Haynes' influence in the way Marcus King sings (with a husky North Carolina tenor) and the way he rips on the guitar (equal parts B.B. King and Jerry Garcia). So it makes sense Haynes has taken King under his wing, giving the young bandleader loads of advice and releasing King's debut record on his own imprint, Evil Teen Records. "Warren's been a hero of mine ever since I was really young... as a singer, as a writer, and as a player," King told us. "To be able to work with him has just been a dream come true." King also talked about managing the vibe onstage (he doesn't use set lists) and his love for the genre-bending Austin band White Denim.
