As Spin points out, in an upcoming interview with Allegedly podcast, Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath claims Scott Weiland appeared “out of it” during a run-in prior to the Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver leader’s death at the beginning of the month.

“He was a friend of mine; I wasn't too shocked," McGrath said. "I ran into him a few times, and he admitted he was drinking still. Drinking’s just not part of the game; you’re either sober or you’re not.”

McGrath saw Weiland at a mutual friend’s wedding, and he said the late frontman was “slow, almost psychological more than it even was the booze.” He noted that Weiland seemed like a "shell of himself."
