It's about time! A quarter century after Marty McFly sported a pair of super-cool Nike high tops with power laces in 'Back to the Future II,' they're becoming a reality. Think about that: No more wasting time tying your shoes. A future we want to live in is right around the corner.

According to Sole Collector, designer Tinker Hatfield was at the Nike Jordan Brand Flight Lab in New Orleans when he was asked about power laces. "Are we gonna see power laces in 2015?" he said. "To that, I say, Yes!"

This is either good news or bad for the 1,500 people who paid a collective $6 million in 2011 for a very limited run of shoes that were auctioned on eBay to benefit 'Back to the Future' star Michael J. Fox's Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Those were pretty cool kicks, but they didn't include the power laces shown in the movie. (In all fairness, Marty wears the shoes in 2015, so maybe the technology wasn't available in 2011.)

No word on whether or not the laces will show up on a new run of the limited-edition Nike Mags that were unveiled a couple years ago, or if they'll be part of a new line. But does it really matter? Power laces will be taking shoe-wearing to a whole new level next year.
