On Friday night (Jan. 20) at the City National Grove of Anaheim in Anaheim, Calif., the supergroup Metal Allegiance threw a "Tribute to Fallen Heroes" concert. You can watch their performance of David Bowie's "Suffragette City" above.

For the evening, which was live-streamed on our sister site Loudwire, Metal Allegiance's core of Alex Skolnick (Testament), David Ellefson (Megadeth), Mark Menghi and Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) were augmented by an all-star cast that included members of Motorhead, Anthrax, Dio and other metal bands. Joining them for "Suffragette City" were Mark Osegueda (Death Angel) on vocals and Phil Demmel (Machine Head) on guitar.

Later in the evening, they recognized the heavier side of the Seattle scene by honoring Mother Love Bone's Andrew Wood with "Chloe Dancer" and Alice in Chains' Layne Staley with "We Die Young," which featured the band's bassist Mike Inez. Drummer Arejay Hale of Halestrom and veteran bassist Billy Sheehan sat in for their take on Prince's "Let's Go Crazy."

Fallen Heroes is also the name of an EP that Metal Allegiance released back in August following the deaths of Lemmy Kilmister, Bowie and Glenn Frey within a month of each other. In addition to "Suffragette City," they covered Motorhead's "Iron Fist" and the Eagles' "Life in the Fast Lane." Their intention was to “pay homage to three legends ... who impacted not just their lives but the world as well.”

Loudwire created a playlist of highlights from the evening, which included a performance of Metal Allegiance's original song, "Pledge of Allegiance," and it can be viewed at Loudwire's YouTube channel.
