If you've been keeping up with 'The Colbert Report' for the past three years of its whopping ten seasons, you likely remember seeing R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe perched upon host Stephen Colbert's shelf. But that all changed on last night's episode. The singer and rock icon -- among some other personal items like an Afghandyland board game and a pack of Vasca-ginia Slims -- were put up for sale in New York City. (The popular TV host is set to take over David Letterman's 'Late Night' seat in the near future, thus the housecleaning.)

During the sale, Stipe's price tag started at $1, but was discounted to a mere quarter and presumably sold to an anonymous buyer. Watch the hilarious segment below, and get ready for the final episode of 'The Colbert Report' tonight at 11:30 ET on Comedy Central.
