Morrissey Cancels U.S. Tour
The announcement just broke on Morrissey’s official Facebook page.
“It is with great sadness that the remainder of the US Tour has been cancelled,” the post reads. “The respiratory infection Morrissey contracted in Miami has worsened, and in the interest of making a full recovery, all further touring plans have been halted. Morrissey thanks his fans for their compassion, understanding, and well-wishes during this difficult period as he recuperates.”
For the past week, Morrissey has postponed shows in Atlanta, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. He played a concert in Boston over the weekend, but that’s about all he’s managed since coming down with the virus — which reportedly sidelined other band members too — last week.
This is beginning to become familiar news for fans. In late 2012, there was a string of cancellations and postponements, starting with his mom getting sick and leading to a scary-sounding a bleeding ulcer.
This is unfortunate news for the singer, since his next album, ‘World Peace Is None of Your Business,’ is out on July 15, and this U.S. tour was supposed to be its big promotional push leading up to it.
