Turns out that the "band illness" that sidelined Morrissey's current U.S. tour this past week has to do with the singer himself. 'Billboard' reports that the 53-year-old former Smiths frontman is in a Royal Oak, Mich. hospital.

A rep for Morrissey says the singer is in William Beaumont Hospital "undergoing tests for a suspected bladder infection." He canceled a gig in Flint, Mich. on Thursday and postponed this weekend's shows in Minneapolis and Chicago. The official word at the time was that a "band illness" was the cause.

This isn't the first time Morrissey's current tour has come to a halt. In October, the remaining dates on his fall itinerary were postponed after the singer's mother ended up in the hospital with an undisclosed illness. He resumed the shows a couple of weeks ago and was making his way through the Midwest before canceling Thursday's show in Michigan.

Morrissey and the band were supposed to resume the concerts on Monday, but now that he's in the hospital, plans may change once again. There are still more than two dozen shows left on the tour schedule.
