Morrissey Bashes Jimmy Kimmel, Accuses Host of Ridiculing Depression, Promoting Guns

Whose side are you on? In one corner, you have Morrissey, the staunch vegetarian who bowed out of his scheduled performance on last night's (Feb. 26) episode of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' because he refused to appear on the same show as certain other guests. The guests? The cast of the A&E reality show ‘Duck Dynasty,' which documents a Louisiana family that owns a business making duck decoys for hunters.

Kimmel and the 'Dynasty' cast mocked Moz's protest with a skit that aired last night about a fictional vegan duck call substitute dubbed the "Carrot Call," and now Morrissey has issued a statement regarding the skit and other jokes Kimmel made at his expense during the broadcast. His statement reads:

I was disappointed with last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Show wherein our smiling host managed to ridicule depression (70% of Americans suffer from depression according to the National Institute of Mental Health). He then found time to ridicule healthy eating (the obesity epidemic in the U.S. costs $147 billion per year in medical expenditure), and he also ridiculed the notion that animals should be entitled to the possession of their own lives. Furthermore, he found time to jokingly promote gun-ownership - hugely amusing for the parents at Sandy Hook, no doubt. He also promoted his special guests Duck Dynasty – who kill beings for fun. None of the above issues are, of course, as important as Jimmy Kimmel himself, who has finally revealed his show to have an overwhelming loss of meaning. Tune in and relive the intellectual fog of the 1950s.

So, there you have it: Apparently, making fun of vegans, depression and gun control is not funny. Good to know.
