Two weeks ago, Muse released 'Survival,' the official theme song of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Now, the International Olympic Committee has unveiled the video for the song.

The video for 'Survival' uses footage from Summer Olympics throughout the ages designed to convey the inherent drama of the Olympic Games. The creators of the video took great steps to make sure that virtually all of the Games' events are represented. In addition to the marquee competitions, such as track and field, gymnastics and swimming, you also see highlights of such sports as equestrian, water polo and fencing.

In an admirable effort to show the global scale of the Games, athletes from all over the world are shown competing. Some, such as gymnast Nastia Liukin and swimmer Michael Phelps, are familiar faces, but most will be unknown to all but the most diehard Olympics followers. And the video does not merely portray the victors. Bicycles crash, a field hockey goalie throws his helmet to the ground and a distance runner from Belarus falls to the ground in the rain.

As the song begins its crescendo, "Faster, Higher, Stronger," the English translation of the official Olympic motto ("Citius, Altius, Fortius"), appears on the screen.

The 2012 Summer Olympics will run from July 27 through Aug. 12.
