Muse’s upcoming full-length, Drones, will finally hit the streets in just a matter of weeks. Ahead of its release, the British rockers have unleashed another new tune, this time in the form of a lyric video for the overwhelmingly powerful “Mercy” -- check it out above.

In a statement released by the band, frontman Matt Bellamy says, “The opening line of ‘Mercy’ -- ‘Help me, I’ve fallen on the inside’ -- is a reference to the [album’s] protagonist knowing and recognizing that stye have lost something, they have lost themselves ... this is where they realize they’ve been overcome by the dark forces that were introduced in ‘Psycho.’”

This description of “Mercy” plays well into the overall theme of Drones, which focuses on “abandonment and loss of hope,” as well as the protagonist’s “indoctrination by the system to be a human drone” and eventual “defection from their oppressors.”

Muse have a number of European gigs scheduled through May, June and July; we get the feeling they'll find their way over to the states -- stay tuned for more details as they are unveiled. You can pre-order Drones, which will hit record stores on June 9, at this location.
