Neil Young has announced he will release a new album, The Monsanto Years, on June 16. As the title suggests, the upcoming album will take aim at the GMO-producing food corporation, Monsanto. For the new album, Young enlisted the help of Promise of the Real, a band featuring Willie Nelson’s sons Lukas and Micah Nelson.

Last Thursday (April 16), Young and Promise of the Real played 11 new songs during a show in San Luis Obispo, Calif., which may appear on the forthcoming full-length. Song titles included “Too Big to Fail,” “Rock Starbucks” and “Monsanto Years” (via Sugar Mountain).

Young and Promise of the Real will embark on a tour in support of The Monsanto Years this summer. The run of dates kicks off at Summerfest in Milwaukee on July 5. Band of Horses will open for Young and company in Denver, Colo.; Lincoln, Neb.; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Camden, NJ. Check out the complete itinerary below.

Last year, Young announced he was boycotting Starbucks in a blog post. He cited the coffee maker’s support of Monsanto’s lawsuit against the state of Vermont, which passed a bill requiring GMOs to be included on food labels.
