Nervous Curtains, ‘Wired to Make Waves’ – Best Songs of 2012 You Probably Haven’t Heard

Nervous Curtains 'Fake Infinity'
Latest Flame Records

The buzzing synth is like something out of a nightmare, but even more frightening is frontman Sean Kirkpatrick. On ‘Wired,’ he works up a frothy-mouthed frenzy, spouting off about the pulsing in his brain and promising to “slash right through security” and generally upset the flow of daily life. He sounds like a psychopathic loner, but his bandmates follow him off the deep end, pushing a gnarly sound somewhere between the Birthday Party and Suicide.

Clearly, this dastardly Dallas trio aren’t headed for the pop charts, but so what? This has been a weird, ugly year, and the Curtains are just the ones to shield us from the outside world.
